Sunday Fun Day

For the last few weekends, Saturday has been reserved for house projects, leaving Sunday as our family fun day.  On this particular Sunday, we headed into Portland with Eric's mom to enjoy the completely free Old Port Festival.  This one day music festival takes over several streets in the Old Port and is filled with music, vendors and loads of people.  We were most excited to see one artist in particular - Eric Hutchinson.  We've been rockin' out to his music for several years now but had yet to see him perform live.

We found a spot in the shade to wait for Eric Hutchinson to hit the stage

We clearly weren't the only ones looking forward to the free live music...the streets were packed!

Beautiful weather and great music, we couldn't have asked for a better day

Now that we're in the area, we're looking forward to making the Old Port Festival an annual family outing!

12 Months

How can 12 months go so quickly?!

One year old and I'm still just a peanut.  I weigh 16.2 lbs. and measure 28 in. long.  My doctor is a little concerned about my weight so at my last check-up she ran a bunch of tests.  I was not a fan of having my blood drawn...it was scary!  Luckily, the tests looked pretty good so the doctor plans to just keep monitoring my weight.  Part of the problem could be that I am such a picky eater, it's hard for Mom & Dad to find things that I'll eat.  I am a big fan of bananas, bread and nibbly fingers though.

My stranger anxiety is still an issue.  I don't mind if people are around as long as Mom or Dad is holding me.  However, when people start touching me, that's when I lose it.  And why do complete strangers think it's okay to touch me?  When Mom and I were at the grocery store yesterday, three people touched me - and that was just between the front door and banana display.  Give me my space people!
I am extremely mobile now.  In fact, a few weeks ago, I was downstairs with Dad doing laundry and all of a sudden I  just started climbing the stairs.  Needless to say, Mom and Dad brought out the baby gate that very afternoon!  While I'm not yet walking, I pull myself up on anything and cruise along furniture.  I love to walk while someone holds my hands.

I have a very mischievous side and love to explore my environment.  While I understand what the word "no" means, when Mom and Dad say it, I like to look at it as a challenge and test if they really mean it.  Lucky for me, my grin is irresistible and they can't get mad at me!

I have lots of favorite toys, including the playhouse Mom and Dad got me for Christmas.  I love to look at books, especially ones with flaps that I can turn.  I'm very ticklish and love to laugh - sometimes I even make myself laugh!

Overall, I'd call this past year a success and am looking forward
to many new adventures this coming year!

Old MacDonald Had A...

...PARTY!! We recently celebrated Lucy's first birthday (yes, it's been a year!) with a little party. Given her continued stranger anxiety, we kept it low-key so as not to overwhelm her too much. We went with a farm theme since her favorite song is "Old MacDonald".

Excited by all of her gifts

Testing out one of her gifts - a personalized camp chair from Mimi & Grampa
Surrounded by all of the thoughtful gifts
Mmm...cake! Stacy had initially intended to make a simple sheet cake since things were a bit chaotic with the move, however, Stacy's mom offered to make this adorable cow cake at the last minute. It was as tasty as it was cute! Lucy had her own special applesauce spice cupcake.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
We took the dress off for easy clean-up...

...but Lucy was so dainty with it she hardly made a mess at all

This past year has been quite the adventure, and we wouldn't have had it any other way!

*A special thanks to Uncle Brian & Aunt Melissa for allowing us to host the party at their house and to all of our family who helped make the day memorable*
